Reflections on Mentors and Momentum: My Journey So Far - Ayra Starr

Ayra Starr on Chris Martin, Kelly Rowland, and Why She’s Just Getting Started

Ayra Starr

Hey everyone, it's Ayra Starr here.

As I sit back and reflect on this whirlwind of a career, I can't help but shout out two incredible artists who've shaped my path: Chris Martin and Kelly Rowland.

They're not just icons—they've been real supporters in my growth.

First, Chris Martin.

Working with him on "GOOD FEELiNGS" for Coldplay's Moon Music album was surreal.

We met in the studio, and his energy is so genuine—he's been super supportive from day one.

Performing it live during their Music of the Spheres tour, like at the Miami show where he introduced me as "the world's biggest popstar" in the making, gave me chills.

Chris taught me about blending genres fearlessly, mixing Afrobeats with rock's epic vibes.

It's opened doors I never imagined.

Then there's Kelly Rowland, my queen! Collaborating on the "Bloody Samaritan" remix back in 2022 was a dream—her vocals elevated it to another level.

Kelly's grace and work ethic inspired me; she's all about empowering women in music.

Seeing her dance to my tracks online still makes me smile. She's shown me how to stay grounded amid the fame.

But honestly, I'm just getting started. At 23, with wins like the MOBO Awards for Best African Music Act (first woman in 16 years!) and Best International Act, plus BET's Best International Act, and signing with Roc Nation—it's fuel for more.

My Grammy nod this year was huge, but I've got albums, tours, and maybe even acting on the horizon.

Afrobeats is global now, and I'm here to push it further.

Watch this space— the best is yet to come!
