Patel: 'No One Above Law' After Comey Indictment

Washington, D.C. – In a bold statement underscoring the Trump administration's push for accountability, FBI Director Kash Patel announced on Thursday that the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey demonstrates that “no one is above the law.”

This comes amid escalating efforts to address alleged misconduct during the Russiagate investigations.

Comey, who served as FBI Director from 2013 to 2017 before being fired by then-President Donald Trump, faces charges of making false statements and obstruction of justice.

The federal grand jury indictment was unsealed just days after President Trump publicly urged the Department of Justice to prosecute his political adversaries, including Comey.

Patel, a staunch Trump ally appointed to lead the FBI earlier this year, elaborated in a press release: "Today, your FBI took another step in its promise of full accountability.

For far too long, previous corrupt leadership and their enablers weaponized federal law enforcement, damaging once proud institutions and severely eroding public trust."

He highlighted the Russiagate probe as a "disgraceful chapter in history" that the bureau continues to investigate.

Attorney General Pam Bondi joined Patel in the announcement, emphasizing the administration's commitment to restoring integrity to federal agencies.

Critics, however, decry the move as political retribution, arguing it undermines the independence of the Justice Department.

Comey's legal team has yet to respond publicly, but sources indicate he plans to fight the charges vigorously.

The case is set to unfold in federal court, potentially exposing deeper rifts from the 2016 election era.

This indictment marks a significant escalation in Trump's second-term agenda to hold former officials accountable, with Patel vowing, "Everyone, especially those in positions of power, will be held to account—no matter their perch."
