The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has donated GH¢5 million and five Toyota Hilux pickups to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) to strengthen efforts against illegal mining, known locally as ‘galamsey.’  The donation, presented on September 10, 2025, in Accra, aims to enhance NAIMOS’s operational capacity to combat the environmental and economic damage caused by illegal mining activities across Ghana. GoldBod’s contribution includes financial support to fund logistics, training, and equipment for NAIMOS’s operations, while the vehicles will improve mobility for field officers tackling galamsey in remote mining areas.  The gesture underscores GoldBod’s commitment to promoting responsible mining and protecting Ghana’s natural resources, particularly its gold reserves, which are critical to the nation’s economy.
