Man City Thrash Burnley 5-1 with Haaland’s Brace

Manchester City delivered a dominant performance against Burnley, cruising to a 5-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium that lifted them up to fourth place in the Premier League standings.

The game was unusual for two unfortunate own goals by Burnley defender Maxime Esteve, which set the tone for the match and handed City an early advantage.

Esteve’s first own goal came from a well-placed cross that he deflected into his own net, giving City a foothold in the game.

Shortly thereafter, Burnley’s difficulties intensified when Esteve again misjudged a cross, turning the ball past his own goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

These early mishaps left Burnley on the back foot, struggling to recover against the imposing City attack.

Despite the own goals, Burnley fought back, managing to pull one goal back through determined attacking play.

However, City quickly regained control, with Erling Haaland stepping up to finish decisively.

The Norwegian striker scored a brace, showcasing his lethal finishing skills and physical presence in the box.

Haaland’s first goal was a clinical effort from close range, while his second came from a precise strike that sealed the win.

City’s other goals included contributions from their dynamic midfield and solid defensive displays, enabling them to dominate possession and control the tempo throughout the match.

The result sends a statement that City remains a strong threat in the Premier League chase, especially with Haaland continuing his fine form.

This comprehensive victory not only boosts Manchester City’s confidence but also moves them into the top four, keeping their Champions League ambitions alive.

Burnley, meanwhile, will be looking to regroup after a tough outing marred by costly errors.
