Cyclists Ride Through University of Alabama to Fight Cancer

In a powerful display of determination and community spirit, more than 75 cyclists participating in the Ride 2 Rosemary event pedaled through the University of Alabama campus as part of their multi-day journey to raise awareness and funds in the battle against cancer.

Now in its 15th year, the annual Ride 2 Rosemary is a grueling 525-mile bike ride from Germantown, Tennessee, to Rosemary Beach, Florida, aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles while supporting cancer patients and research initiatives.

The cyclists' route took them directly through the heart of the UA campus, where they were met with cheers and support from students, faculty, and locals.

This stopover not only provided a brief respite for the riders but also served as an opportunity to engage with the university community, spreading their message of hope and resilience in the face of cancer.

Organized by the West Cancer Foundation, Ride 2 Rosemary honors the memory of Rosemary Plorin, who lost her battle with cancer, and has grown into a significant fundraising effort over the years.

Participants endure five days of challenging terrain, weather conditions, and physical exertion, all while collecting donations that directly benefit cancer care programs, including financial assistance for patients and advancements in treatment.

Events like this highlight the ongoing fight against cancer, which affects millions worldwide.

By combining physical challenge with philanthropy, the riders inspire others to get involved, whether through donations, volunteering, or adopting healthier habits to reduce cancer risk.

As the team continues toward their final destination in Florida, their journey stands as a testament to the power of collective action in combating one of society's most pressing health issues.
