The team, led by head coach Otto Addo, secured a draw against Chad and a crucial victory over Mali during the September international window, maintaining their lead in Group I with 19 points.

These results propelled the Black Stars from their previous 76th position, showcasing their resurgence on the global stage.

Despite the global ranking improvement, Ghana remains steady at 14th in Africa, reflecting the competitive nature of continental football.

Morocco continues to lead the African rankings at 12th globally, followed by Senegal, Egypt, and Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars’ recent performances have sparked optimism among fans, who hope the team can build on this momentum as they aim for qualification for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The team’s journey in 2025 has been marked by resilience, with earlier victories against Chad and Madagascar contributing to their upward trajectory.

However, challenges remain, as Ghana looks to overcome past setbacks, including their group-stage exit at the 2023 AFCON and failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON.

Coach Addo is focused on further improving the team’s ranking when they return to action later this year.

As Ghana prepares for upcoming matches, including a potential four-nation Unity Cup in May 2026, the Black Stars are determined to solidify their position among the world’s elite football teams and restore their legacy as a powerhouse in African football.
