Eintracht Frankfurt Thrash Galatasaray 5-1

In a stunning UEFA Champions League debut for the 2025/26 season, Eintracht Frankfurt overturned an early deficit to dismantle Galatasaray 5-1 at Deutsche Bank Park on September 18, 2025. 

The German side, returning to Europe's elite competition, showcased resilience and firepower to top the league phase after matchday one.

Galatasaray, fresh off a perfect start to their domestic campaign with five wins and just one goal conceded, struck first. 

Yunus Akgun fired a low left-footed shot into the bottom corner in the 8th minute, capitalizing on a turnover. 

The Turkish giants, bolstered by stars like Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan, looked poised for dominance.

However, Frankfurt roared back. 

In the 37th minute, Davinson Sanchez inadvertently deflected Ritsu Doan's effort into his own net for the equalizer.

 Teenage sensation Can Uzun then put the hosts ahead in first-half stoppage time (45+2'), rifling a shot into the roof of the net.

 Moments later, Jonathan Burkardt headed in from a Fares Chaibi free-kick to make it 3-1 at the break.

The second half saw Burkardt double his tally in the 66th minute with another header, this one deflecting off Sanchez. 

Ansgar Knauff sealed the rout in the 75th minute, pouncing on a defensive error to slot home the fifth.

Despite Galatasaray's 62% possession and 14 shots, Frankfurt's clinical finishing and home crowd energy proved decisive. 

This defeat snapped the visitors' 13-game winning streak, setting up tough tests ahead against Liverpool.
