Supreme Court Tackles Trump’s Birthright Citizenship Order
On May 15, 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments regarding President Donald Trump’s controversial executive order aimed at restricting birthright citizenship, a right enshrined in the 14th Amendment.  The order seeks to deny automatic citizenship to children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants or temporary visa holders, challenging over a century of legal precedent established by the 1898 case United States v. Wong Kim Ark .  The court’s session focused not only on the order’s constitutionality but also on the broader issue of nationwide injunctions issued by lower courts to block Trump’s policies.
